About Us

A Community-Based Organization founded in 2024 on the conviction that a healthy community cannot exist on a sick planet.

Who We Are

Created by young local visionaries to confront three interconnected crises.

Friends for Life NCD Solutions is a Community-Based Organization founded in 2024 on the conviction that a healthy community cannot exist on a sick planet.

It was created by young local visionaries to confront the three interconnected crises undermining our future: the hidden threat of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), the rising disaster of climate change, and the persistent barriers to health and dignity for women and girls.

We are a dedicated grassroots, non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a healthy, resilient, and empowered society free from the burden of preventable diseases and environmental vulnerabilities. We actively bridge the gap between high-level policy and grassroots action, ensuring that vulnerable groups — particularly adolescent girls and young women — are equipped with the knowledge, health resources, and climate resilience needed to thrive.

Our Vision & Mission

Our Vision: A community free from preventable diseases, thriving in harmony with a stable and healthy environment, and where every individual can live healthy and with dignity. A vibrant, healthy, and equitable society where every individual has the power to lead a dignified life free from preventable health and environmental crises.

Our Mission: To empower our community by providing the knowledge, tools, and support needed to prevent NCDs, adopt climate-smart practices, and improve health and dignity through Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives. To champion community-led health solutions and environmental stewardship through evidence-based advocacy, capacity building, and integrated interventions at the critical intersection of health, human rights, and climate resilience. We achieve this through grassroots education, inclusive programs, and advocacy.

Vision and mission - community empowerment

Core Values

At Friends for Life, our values guide every action we take, ensuring our work remains community-centered and impactful.

Unity & Partnership

We believe in the power of collective action.

Preventive Action

We believe in stopping problems before they start, promoting wellness rather than just treating sickness.

Community Empowerment

We are a catalyst. We provide the resources, but the community's voice and action drive real, lasting change.

Holistic Health

We understand that human health is directly connected to the health of our environment.

Youth Leadership

We harness the innovation, energy, and passion of young people as leaders of today, not just tomorrow.

Friendship & Partnership

We work with, not for, the community. We build trust, solidarity, and lasting relationships.

The Core Pillars of Our Work

Our impact is driven by an integrated approach that connects health, environment, and data. We operate across four interconnected thematic areas.

1. Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs): Preventable NCDs pose a massive threat to community well-being and economic stability. We conduct grassroots awareness campaigns, promote healthier lifestyles, and advocate for early screening and accessible community-based healthcare interventions.

2. Climate Action & Environmental Stewardship: Environmental health is human health. We build grassroots environmental resilience by empowering local communities to adapt to climate realities. Crucially, our philosophy goes beyond just planting trees; we commit to nurturing them. We ensure every tree planted is systematically cared for, tracked, and sustained so they grow to fulfill their intended ecological and community purpose.

3. Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR): We champion the rights of vulnerable populations, with a sharp focus on Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW). By providing comprehensive health education and dismantling barriers to care, we equip young women with the resources and knowledge necessary to make informed choices about their bodies, futures, and well-being.

4. Data-Driven Research: True advocacy requires evidence. We conduct community-rooted qualitative and quantitative research to capture real-time health and environmental trends. By transforming raw community data into actionable insights, we ensure local voices effectively shape national and regional policy frameworks.

Advancing the SDGs

By operating across these interconnected fields, our work directly advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — specifically driving progress in Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
